Box (previously Box.net) has now allowed personal accounts to download the Box Desktop Sync client. Previously, only upgraded accounts (Business or Enterprise) could have this feature. The news about a desktop client has been a huge excitement because people may now be switching from Dropbox to Box. Although you only get 5GB at initial sign up, recent offers and promotions for Box have allowed free uses to get up to 50GB of cloud storage for free. Although I have got 10GB of Dropbox storage for free, 5x more storage is tempting. Dropbox does have more integration with 3rd party programs, but Box integration is increasing. One of the largest disadvantages of Box, is its upload size limit. With Dropbox, upload size limit is none, while Box is 100MB. Another disadvantage with Box was its Desktop Sync. Now that Box has made it availible for free users, the switch from Dropbox to Box are coming closer.

The client is fairly simple to set up, only having 2 steps after installation to have it up and running. Signing in to your Box account and syncing with your cloud account. After that is finished, just drag and drop files you want to be uploaded to the cloud.

To get Box Desktop Sync, Sign into your Box account and go "My Account" -> "Get Box Sync"
